The music of Fritz Henry is a unique blend of folk, pop, country and rock
that truly captures the "return to basics" style attracting audiences of the New Millennium.
With vocals rich and varied, Fritz accompanies himself with 12-string guitar and harmonica
delighting his listeners with rhythm, repertoire and range. His CD's "The Survivor" and
"Faces and Places" are a full measure of his creativity. Actively entertaining for more than
20 years, he has been enthusiastically received across the USA as well as in England, Scotland,
Wales and Austria. In his words, "Actually meeting and sharing music with people from
different places and countries, helps define your perspective of the world and will trigger
creative insights which need to be expressed." The sights and experiences of these people and
places, both beautiful and tragic, can be found woven throughout Fritz's songs and poems.
Born and raised in the rural farm country of upstate New York, Fritz knew what he wanted to do
with his life, "to play music that will help people relax and enjoy the best parts of
themselves and the natural beauty of the world around them." The time-honored traditions
of love and respect for the earth, compassion, honesty and hard work are reflected in his
personality and in his craft. Singing and entertaining have always come naturally to Fritz.
By the age of 4, he was singing along with the radio, his mother's Elvis records and just
about any kind of musical input around him. School, church and college choirs helped to
train and refine his natural abilities - being one of the class mischief-makers undoubtedly
contributed to his stage presence.
Fritz's professional career started within the rock of the 70's as lead singer in various
rock bands, "I always loved the energy of rock music, but so much of the lyrics and the
expected life-style of a rock musician was, and still is, mostly counter-productive."
Feeling his way around the rock scene, a change was inevitable. Growing up with two older
brothers who were into Dylan, The Birds, Simon and Garfunkel, Peter, Paul, and Mary, and
later embracing the acoustic-electric sounds of James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Jim Croce, Harry
Chapin, Neil Young and others, Fritz concluded that being a soloist was the best way to
achieve his professional and personal goals. Well known for his memorable interpretations of
classic pop, rock, folk, and country music, his accessible and involved style of performance
enables any audience to relax and enjoy themselves. Fritz tours the United States and overseas
at festivals, fairs and concert halls, and for community concert series, corporate and convention
functions, and for colleges, special events and charity fund raisers. Fritz is also an endorsee
representative of the Ovation Guitar Company.
